Blogs as litigation tactic?

Ran into this post that quotes a story on a blog about a possible med mal claim:

But blogs have proven to be effective in putting pressure on defendants. David Johnson, CEO of Strategic Visions, an Atlanta public relations agency that has helped plaintiffs blog to force action, told Swider about a blog about a young boy who lost his arm from poor hospital care getting so much attention the hospital settled out of court.

So, apparently, having a blog could be a part of your litigation strategy to encourage settlement. Seems risky to me, though I imagine that it would have its greatest utility with class actions, especially ones based around nationally distributed consumer products. Lots of people would be affected and thus traffic / publicity could reach a pretty high level.
